Our Story

Lane Michael Burrows' legacy is friendship, kindness, and living life to its fullest.

Lane was a beloved son, affectionate brother, caring family member, and a loyal best friend. From an early age, it became clear he was gifted and excelled in almost all he did with seemingly little effort. Lane was an honor student at Dominion High School and played as the #63 lineman on the football team. He was an active community member, earned his Arrow of Light Boy Scout award, and played baseball for 13 seasons. In all he did, Lane loved being part of the team. Music was an outlet and something Lane used to express himself. At the age of 11, he became a self-taught guitarist.

Remembering Lane

Lane was a friend and always reached out to those who needed it the most. Lane packed PB&J sandwiches for almost five years in grammar school but asked if he could pack a nut-free lunch for the rest of the year. I later learned that this was not because the classic sandwich became dated but because he wanted to sit with the one student at the allergy table as he didn't want them to feel alone. Lane is an incredible spirit with such a fire in his heart, taken from us far too soon. After his battle with mental illness, we lost Lane tragically in 2019 at the age of 15.

The advocating work we do each day will make the needed difference in reducing the mental health stigma. Our actions, both big and small, provide the space to continue to prioritize mental health AS health. Lane's story is not over, and his legacy will live on in all of us.

Our Mission

The Live4Lane Foundation's mission is to increase community mental health resources through educational scholarships for Dominion High School Students. We aim to recognize active mental health advocates among our high school students.

Our Values

We value the contribution of our youth and the acceptance they bring to individuality and inclusivity. Mental illness awareness and resources can provide help, hope, and support to those most in need.

Our Vision

Our vision is to promote mental health awareness through education.

L.A.N.E.

Learn. Awareness. Nurture. Education.

Knowledge is the key to understanding and accepting mental health is health. Education will provide knowledge of mental illness to reduce stigma, create acceptance, build advocates, and increase resources within our community.
